An updated flood watch was issued by the NWS Blacksburg VA on Tuesday at 4:32 p.m. in effect until 8 p.m. The watch is for Ashe, Alleghany, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin counties.

At 3:27 p.m. on Tuesday, the NWS Wakefield VA issued an updated flood watch in effect until Wednesday at 2 a.m. The watch is for Northampton, Hertford, Gates, Bertie, Chowan and Perquimans counties.

Persistent Monday rain fell in bands, creating long periods of heavy downpours in some communities. Tuesday's rain was far more intermittent, but included a few rounds of heavy thunderstorms. Rain chances will run high again on Wednesday and include the risk of severe thunderstorms yet again.
