LONDON — Iga Swiatek reached the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over 19th-seeded Liudmila Samsonova that went from a stroll to a bit of a struggle in the late stages Wednesday.

Iga Swiatek has joined Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon semi-finals after a straight-sets victory over Liudmila Samsonova. The No8 seed won 6-2 7-5 against her Russian opponent, who was seeded as the No19 and was competing in her first Grand Slam quarter-final.

It was a hard-fought match, but Belinda Bencic is advancing to the semifinal at Wimbledon. In an extremely tight match, Bencic upset No. 7 Mirra Andreeva in straight sets (7-6, 7-6) to advance at the tournament.
