The Mets’ day-night doubleheader split with the Brewers came with a hairpin turn in the middle and they and the throng of 41,123 for the nightcap at steamy Citi Field had to walk away hoping the worst of the club’s three-week morass might be in the rearview mirror.

Dropped from the top spot, slumping All-Star Francisco Lindor followed Nimmo's second-inning slam with a home run and finished with three RBIs as the Mets snapped a four-game slide by winning for only the fourth time in 18 games.

Nimmo and Lindor hit back-to-back homers in a five-run second inning to power New York in the second game of a doubleheader.

Brandon Nimmo homered again, Juan Soto came through with a tiebreaking single and the New York Mets held off the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2.

The lefthander pitched well into the seventh inning and Pete Alonso, Juan Soto and Brandon Nimmo all drove in runs as the Mets beat the Brewers, 3-2, in the rubber game of the series before 42,241 at Citi Field.
