A Hot Wheels live-action movie is coming, Mattel announced in July 2025. Jon M. Chu is set to direct the movie, with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions producing and Juel Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier writing the script.

After Barbie, Mattel has been going full throttle with the live action films and now there's another one in the pipelines — Hot Wheels

“Jon’s ability to craft rich, elaborate worlds with a distinct point of view makes him the ideal storyteller to bring Hot Wheels to life,” Mattel Studios President and Chief Content Officer Robbie Brenner said in a statement shared with Deadline.
